It would seem that Gary has decided to call it a day, sadly. I have seen a few reasons stated but it just seems they could not keep ahead of a string of bad things. Mentioning the pandemic, the fires and some odor seeping from under the ground. The article I read also mentioned the difficulty keeping quality staff when such great Napa restaurants would steal them away.
I had the privilege of visiting a few time while in Napa during the first week of September 2021 and found it every bit a quality operation that his other stores in New Jersey are.
Sorry to see this and wish him and his crew well.
There’s one in Napa too? I only knew of the St Helena location.
One and the same , I believe
Wonder if the store in the meadowlands survives … kidding.
Too bad. I never visited the store when it was open, but did get a tour from Gary a couple weeks prior. He had such high hopes.
Wow…just closing the Napa store? Or his whole operation?
I wonder if part of the challenge was that St. Helena is a tourist town with a small population, and tourists coming on vacation to wine country don’t really need a large, full-service wine store, while Napan locals like me don’t want to schlep up-Valley. It was also a giant space.
It was an impressive selection and it’s unfortunate to see them go.
I believe the title of post explains clearly. I forgot how much fun it it to share here
We miss you too Mike! ![]()
Sorry, I guess I missed that in the title…you having a bad day dude? Go have a drink and chill out…
