Well, this is a first for me. In my many years of well, existence, I have never been part of a foundation. It all started innocently enough. I was asked to join a board to lend my skills in educational technology for the Fullerton Unified School Districts Education Foundation.
I soon discovered the foundation generates most of its money during a one evening per year event, a Toast to Learning Wine Auction.
Yep, a wine auction. You could imagine the chuckle I had when I learned that.
So, here I am. A wine loving geek getting in touch with my wine loving friends to see if you want to be part of this event.
Last years auction items included bottles of wine, hotel stays, private dinner parties, tours and even a yacht! While I do not expect to see keys for a yacht, I humbly ask you to consider donating wine or any other item that you think would help the cause.
The proceeds from the auction go towards Laptop support, staff development support, matching funds for individual donations and classroom grants.
I know these are crazy times and a year of low yields so I can totally understand if you are not able to donate something.
Also, for my wine drinking buddies, the auction will be June 4, 2011 at the Fullerton Arboretum and tickets will be $125
I even have a budget to purchase wine! So, if you have a large format bottle, etc. I can toss some money towards it.
To make it easy on my winery friends that donate, I plan to head up and all about Napa, Sonoma, etc. picking up any donations. I will be in town March 30th – April 3rd
