Ok I will admit it- epic response lol.
Back to topic at hand- not saying Belmont is Mom and Pop- just pointing out there are many scenarios where just going off WS low does not make sense.
I know $370 is not the best price out there- but if I were living in Colorado and wanted the wine and a hassle-free handoff, I would probably go for this offer.
Honestly I was just surprised to see the piling on.
Given board rules, I won’t discuss this particular item, except to say that I think Dujac’s Charmes are way underpriced compared to his other wines.
As a general rule I price using a combination of low Wine Searcher and Wine Market Journal which gives me the auction data. Unless I know the person, I would prefer to buy from a store, with all its protections rather than a random person on a wine board, otherwise the price has to be really compelling. Even then,I would not buy without talking to him/her.
Tom Reddick, Mark G—thank you for seeing where I’m coming from and providing great comments.
Everyone else—thank you for being Berserkers and busting my balls a bit.
blaine gets it.
This somehow turned into a great thread. Kudos to all.
