We tasted six wines from the distributor Boutique Wines at Susan’s on Friday afternoon. They were a varied bunch, but generally good, although simple wines:
Tarequet Côtes de Gascogne White - complex spicy white fruit, with ok acidity, and a nice finish
Istas Mendi Txakoli (Basque White) - austere fruit, good acidity, and a medium long fruity finish
A to Z Sangiovese Rosé (Oregon) - bright cherry fruit. a pleasant sipper
Cartlidge & Brown Pinot Noir (Monterey) - simple red fruit (with none of herbacious notes I remember from Monterey wines), a short finish, the least interesting of the wines
André Brunel Grenache Vaucluse - bright red and black fruit, ok acidity, an enjoyable wine.
Mas de Guiot Vin de Pays de Gard - red and black fruit, rich flavors, another nice wine.
Overall an interesting an enjoyable tasting, then home to Zin and tamales.
