Friday Night TN: 06 Melville Viognier Estate Verna's, 04 Concha y Toro Carménère Terrunyo Peumo Vine

A couple of tasty wines downed while grilling on Friday night.

2006 Melville Viognier Estate Verna’s - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (6/12/2009)
Full, rich nose is loaded with peaches and tropical fruit. Big and forward on the palate. With rich fruits that echo the nose. The alcohol is well contained but not totally cloaked. Lacks some complexity but is enjoyable for its hedonistic qualities. (91 pts.)[/list]

2004 Concha y Toro Carménère Terrunyo Peumo Vineyard Block 27 - Chile, Central Valley, Rapel Valley, Peumo (6/12/2009)
Full and beautifully complex nose of cassis, fresh cut herbs, bell pepper, coffee and toast. Palate is full bodied with medium-rich fruit that is seamless start to finish. Long tasty finish that is full of fruit and herbal notes. Nicely balanced and complex in a modern, tasty package. (93 pts.)

Ah, yes, Melville Viognier Verna’s - a perennial favorite that I haven’t had the pleasure of drinking for some time.

Need to pick some up!!
