I have absolutely no plan what-so-ever. Will be winging it all weekend.
I’m stuck in Edmonton and Calgary this weekend with little access to decent wine that is not horribly over priced, especially in restaurants. [suicide.gif]
weinbach
barroche cdp
fevre chablis
and more tonight at Bodega Bistro with Marshall Gelb
Saturday - Pinot and Pork at Epic Roasthouse’s Pig Roast
Sunday - over 200 Pinots at pinot days sf
Sadly I am missing Pinot Days for the first time since it’s inception.
Tony - be sure to try some pinot from George Wine when you are there and tell him I said hi
will do. I have tried a George wine somewhere…pretty good.
2005 McPrice Myers Cuvée Kristina
2005 Saxum Broken Stones
2007 Terry Hoage Vineyards Bam Bam Grenache Rosé
2005 Hans Bausch Hattenheimer Engelmannsberg Riesling Spätlese
I will be winging it as well. All I know for sure is that I will be finishing the second half of a 2007 Copain Baker Ranch Syrah this afternoon. Nice little qpr wine there, but opened way too early due to my utter lack of will power.
Tonight will be martinis, most likely. Tomorrow night, with steak sandwiches and green olive tapenade, cali cabs and maybe some sryah. Sunday depends on how I feel after Saturday night.
2007 Anthill Farms Pinot Noir Comptche Ridge Vineyard
At Susan’s we will be tasting wines from Cline Cellars:
Sonoma County Pinot Gris
California Viognier
Contra Costa Mourvèdre Rosé.
Cashmere (Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre)
Oakley ‘Five Reds’
Sonoma Coast ‘Cool Climate’ Syrah
Ancient Vines Mourvèdre
Ancient Vines Zinfandel
Then we’ll head for Andiamo for dinner and some nice Italian wines.
Checking in on the 02 Lagrange and it is drinking nicely, the heavy oak is finally integrating and the tannin is just starting to fade away. This will be a decent bottle in a couple more years.
Tomorrow, who knows…We have some rabbits to pick up from a local farm
Sat - pouring all day at Santa Barbara Wine Festival . . .therefore, Sat night, most likely beer . . .
Sun - pouring at Pinot Days after driving up early Sun morning from the Santa Ynez Valley - Sun night - offline with hopefully lots of wine - and ABP (anything but pinot)
Cheers!
A lot
Tonight is a bunch of Italian stuff and god knows what else.
Tomorrow might be just water.
Sunday will be Alsatian Gewurzs with Chinese food.
Tonight NOTHING. I have to get up really early to go to a Bat Mitzvah out of town .
Saturday ~ making up for Friday but TBD
Tonight: Pesquie Les Terrasses 2007- Needed something good and cheap, and this over delivers on both fronts. Great fruit, texture and balance, and getting a lot better as the night goes on.
Tomorrow: Mont Olivet CDP 2007- Stay tuned.
Sunday: Undecided.
Lumber - and lots of it
Would love to see a note on this.
Btw – on the way home from work today, I stopped off at Whole Foods and picked up 3 lbs. fresh halibut. I put it on about 25 minutes of medium heat on the BGE with a lemon butter mop and some herbs from the garden, and I decided to open a 2005 Martinelli Three Sisters “Three Ridge Meadow” Chard. This was mostly a space-making decision. In any event, pleasant surprise. While I would not run out and buy more, this wine had some burnt toast, lemon rind, and a hint of butterscotch but was nicely integrated, not oaky, and not an alcohol bomb as some Martinelli tend to be. It actually was a nice foil for the halibut. I have pretty much written off Martinelli reds, but occasionally I try a Chard with a little bottle age that is pleasant.
Tonight: 2004 Arcadian Pinot Fiddlestix. Hopefully my throat will not still be on fire in the morning.
Love to see a note on how the McPrice meyers is holding up, I think i have a couple of these left.
Tonight enjoying a 2007 August West “Rosella’s” with some homemade Pizza’s ( perfect pairing)
Tomorrow some sort of Syrah.
