Had a nice day up at Fogline’s Fall Open House. Tasted through the lineup and really enjoyed the 2012 Sun Chase Pinot and 2012 Estate Fogline Neighbors were the best. Was able to do a Barrel tasting of Estate 50% Whole Cluster that really had it going on. Great Nose and depth. It is only one Barrel and unnamed but will be bottled. Looking forward to seeing what these guys can do going ahead.
Joe- cool set up they have their on River Road. We tasted with Evan 2 weeks back. Looks like our thoughts were the same on the pinot’s. I liked them all and bought the Sun Chase and Neighbors. If i had more cellar room i would have gotten some of the floodgate or the deal he has on the 11 Sun Chase.
Will be fun to watch and taste along as they grow.
Cheers
Fred
Fred, if you don’t mind, what’s the “deal on the 11 Sun Chase”?, I’ve been wanting to try these since Fm3’s notes.
Craig- the 11 was $300 for a case. The note from Fm3 was on the 12. We tried them both and the 12 is excellent with a bit more verve and complexity. The 11 was very good and a great deal at $25 a bottle. That may be a tasting room only deal but worth asking Evan about.
The 12 is a great deal as well especially after club discount. Joining the club was a no brainer. You get to mix and match anything you want and get x% off depending on what you signed up for.
I agree the '11 is just a step behind and was still up on the board for $300 Case Special.
I believe the Club discount is 20% and think the '12 was $42 a bottle.
The website “the wine spies” has the 2011 Sun Chase for $29.00
No affiliation etc.
I was out running errands (Cash & Carry for Pork Butt and brioche buns) and saw the festivities. I remembered Evan mentioning the OH but I was in my grubby shorts, t-shirt and flip flops so I begrudgingly passed by twice without stopping. Thanks for the report. Big fan of the Neighbors.
