The story of the Finger Lakes hasn’t been read by everyone, though.

Frederick Frank, president and CEO of Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars overlooking Keuka Lake, said Hobbs’ coming to this region may finally make some holdouts, such as influential wine evaluator Robert Parker Jr., take notice of the Finger Lakes.

“I don’t think he’s reviewed a Finger Lakes wine in many a year,” Frank said.

“For the region to really become a world-class wine region, we need to do the hard work of marketing and selling the wines beyond New York state. It does take a lot of effort and hard work.”

— Frederick Frank, president/CEO
But in a few years, after Hobbs plants and harvests and makes wine from his initial Finger Lakes grapes, “He’ll probably be presenting wines to Mr. Parker and hopefully that will enlighten him to what’s going on in the Finger Lakes.”

The Hobbs Effect has yet to be determined on the Finger Lakes, but as Trezise’s “overnight success” theory suggests, many efforts helped bring the Finger Lakes winery to this point.

The FLX is the last frontier as Hermann Weimer and I often talked about before he sold …

Hi John -

I believe it is the Selbach family from the Mosel Valley who is partnering with Paul Hobbs - I drove by the site a couple weeks ago and it is indeed a formidable site -

Lets hope he has the impact that Drouhin had on Oregon when they arrived there - I can’t wait to see what the come up with -

You and RMP are the two most prominent users of the ellipses… that… I have… ever… known.

Hobbs has the a whole lot of indigenous FLX peeps puckered…I think I am really going to like this project, because I like to rattle the cage…

His partner and I will un officially go on the record… Is

Johannes Selbach of Selbach-Oster

The more people I talk to off the record all say its a done deal … The fluff in this link …

I suspect around $50 a bottle (forlorn look on my face).
I found his Malbecs from Argentina undrinkable. Bl… fruit bombs!

A rising tide lifts all boats! Happy to see that FL is getting deserved attention.

We visited the FLX last summer and found some really good Rieslings.

Was a revelation to us.

Bill Bøykin is up there in that there pantheon!
