My experience has been totally different. I’ve been to at least a dozen wine dinners over the past couple of years, including two this year that I organized, and each time we’ve had well thought out courses designed to accompany the wines (with lots of vegetarian options, including probably the best course I’ve had in years at a dinner two years ago). I never heard any complaints about the quantity. I believe Octavio was back in the kitchen this year and the food was never better.
Very sad to see this go down, and I know a bunch of us will miss Palate.

I heard Lou’s Wine Bar was sold to Troy Stevens.
I’ve had some great meals at Palate. I would say, however, that their service was a huge problem. I remember doing a wine dinner there and pre-arranging no corkage. The bill came and they tried to charge me $300 for corkage. I had to get a separate check for the corkage and go back later to get them to reverse the charge, despite my repeated conversation with the manager on duty that night and calling earlier in the day to confirm. Never went back after that. Sadly, that was the last of a number of really poor services for me. Too bad because the food there was always first rate.
That’s sad to hear. Had some great food and wine experiences there.
I’ll miss Palate a lot having had many great meals and times there. I thought they did a very nice job at the Rhys offline dinner we had there. If they do reopen, the one suggestion I’d have would be to be more flexible on the corkage for Wine Vault members or just in general. With a locker upstairs I would have eaten there a few times a month if the corkage wasn’t $18/ per bottle…
Always sorry to hear people are now out of work. Enjoyed my first few dinners there with the elusive Mr. Wu. However, this past year I was greeted with shoddy/rude service and inconsistent food. Hope to see something new fill this spot sooner than later.
Hello,
Does anyone know how to get in touch with the owners of Palate? Please PM me.
Thanks.
