First CA Pinot vs. Burg Squabble?

Burgundy- too expensive, too hit and miss
Cali- too sweet, too over the top

Discuss

I’ll try to settle this . . . .

When I was asked by Rusty Gaffney of PinotFile at WOPN whether I had more CA pinot or Burgundy in my cellar for a grape radio segment, I thought for a few seconds and then confidently answered . . . .

Neither - I drink mainly rhones!!!

Not sure if that will make it into the final cut . . .

Carry on . . . .

No.

It can be … but doesn’t have to … although sometimes I really love an over the top and sweet Cali pinot.

I like Oregon Pinot Noir

Is this where I step in and say “A-hole! Who likes like that elegant, pseudo-French, chaptilized pink crap?” [berserker.gif]

Me, I prefer Jessie Helms Winery North Carolina Pinot Noir 1972, which is from the Yadkin Valley appellation contrôlée, specially grown for those keen on regurgitation; a fine wine which really opens up the sluices at both ends.

Now you’ve got the spirit!!

If only you guys could make a better job of convincing the guys on the East Coast to drink more Cali Pinot I would be able to afford even more Burgs…

I’d prefer you describe the argument differently.

Indeed. One of the friendliest, most inclusive, places on the web
