Finger Lakes restaurant recommendations

I’m planning a Thanksgiving weekend visit to the Finger Lakes, mostly around Seneca. Friday is mostly on the west side, Saturday on the east side. Staying at a B&B in Hector. Lunch and dinner recommendations appreciated.

It’s been a while, but I really enjoyed Stone Cat the one time I went there. It’s in Hector. http://stonecatcafe.com/

We had a very nice dinner at Ports, just south of Geneva. It’s a long drive from Hector but worth the effort.

Stone Cat - http://stonecatcafe.com Good for lunch or dinner.

Danos - http://www.danosonseneca.com Good for lunch or dinner. We enjoyed our dinner, only complaint is the wine list was small and uninspiring.

FLX Weinery - http://www.flxwienery.com Locals rave about this place. Started by a Master Somm.

Jerlandos - http://www.jerlandospizza.com/watkins-glen/about.html Did not try this place but again locals recommended.

Bertas Cafe - http://www.bertascafe.com/?page_id=2 Amazing breakfast taco.

The Krebs In Skaneateles just reopened. Lovely dining experience. Quite a team (from their website www.thekrebs.com):
Hired to run the newly renovated restaurant is General Manager Daniel Reiser and Executive Chef Austin Johnson. Daniel Reiser comes to The Krebs from Gordon Ramsay at the London Hotel in New York City. Before Gordon Ramsay, Daniel worked for Bann, Jean-Georges, The Mercer Kitchen and Woo Lae Oak in New York. Chef Austin studied under Chef Jason Franey at the legendary Canlis in Seattle. Chef Austin moved to NYC where he worked alongside Daniel Humm at Eleven Madison Park. From there Austin moved to Europe to trail at Noma and also restaurant Oud Sluis in Sluis Netherlands. He was invited back to open Daniel Humm’s new restaurant the NoMad, inside the NoMad hotel. During two and a half years at NoMad the restaurant earned 3 Stars NY times, and 1 star Michelin.

Robert’s list is generally a good one. I’ll add…

East side of the lake: Red Newt Bistro

West side: Veraisons (at Glenora Wine Cellars)

It being T’giving weekend, you might want to check to see who’s open or closed.

John, glad to hear that Krebs is back. I used to like that place when I was on the road selling wine thousands of years ago.

Thomas -
its completely different. The owner is relatively new to town, but he’s adopted us. Spent millions renovating and is donating all profits to charity. It looks the same on the outside, but its completely different on the inside. For example, the upstairs, where all the locals hung out is completely gone. Now upscale fine dining. Worth an excursion.

The Krebs looks amazing, especially the wine list. It’s 1 hour 20 minutes from where we’re staying. I’ll have to think about that. Tempting, for sure.

Thanks for the replies, everybody. Most helpful.
