That’s crazy.
Had 6 boxes of wine from 3 different merchants on the truck at 4am Friday for delivery. Drove around all day and the guy flagged them as “Future delivery requested”. BS, he just didn’t make it to the facility before 5pm. So they all went back to the warehouse to sit all weekend and now on the truck again this morning. The weather’s been cool, so it shouldn’t be an issue, just super annoying the route wasn’t planned properly.
Just had my first experience of a box stated as delivered, but unsure where. Someone even signed my initials. I’ve informed the winery…ball is in their court.
I got 4 cases shipped as a multi-box delivery. One has been delivered, 2 aren’t even in the same state yet. Thankfully weather is not a concern, but how the hell does Fedex route 4 cases sent together through 4 different routes.
Have 4 cases coming from the west coast (FedEx) to NY metro region, all shipped from the same facility. I was getting tracking updates the first business day until it hit the hub in Sacramento. That was on 10/29. I have not seen an update since and don’t know where the wines are and when they will be delivered. Not the worst thing in the world, but this will periodically happen with FedEx where I won’t see tracking updates.
I am always a little more nervous when there are harder to replace wines coming my way, as is the case with this shipment.
I have the same issue right now. Two different shipments from the same place leaving at the same time. One has been delivered but the other shipment has been stuck in New Rochelle since Oct. 29 without any further updates.
Thankfully mine updated yesterday and is on the truck for delivery as I type. Was able to get the notice and work from home today so I can sign. Fingers crossed.
Ha same thing happened to me with 3 cases of wine from the same shop - three different routes with one that came early, one that came late, and one that was somehow destroyed by Fedex… thank god I paid for insurance
Once you drop off your boxes at the store they are zero degrees connected. Then when it gets to a hub, these are facilities the size of a couple of football fields.
Semi trailers backed in while a conveyor belt dumps boxes into hopefully correct bay with a guy in the back trying to keep up stacking them in.
I have no idea the failure rate these days with scanning, but back in my day it was typically 6-20 mis-loads per shift. Even if the computer spits it towards the wrong truck and you catch it it has to be manually moved to another part of the facility.
It’s amazing how it works at all imo, especially when you consider some of the rural and congested city areas packages need to be delivered too
I had 22 cases delivered yesterday and the driver loved that he had such a large delivery to one spot. Confirmed that it’s much easier than trying to park and get out 22 separate times.
That’s why i try not to use FEDEX for my wine deliveries. For me, UPS seems to be the safer choice.
My current Fedex irritation is that the big FedEx “Print and Ship” center right by my office where I have had deliveries held for years has stopped showing as a “hold for delivery” option.
Now I can only choose an area Walgreens or the big distribution center across town. Not the end of the world, but no one—not any of the people at the FedEx call center or anyone in person at either of the FedEx facilities—has any explanation for the change.
Very frustrating. Don’t they know I’m moderately inconvenienced???
I hope no one was shipping UPS air this week. Yikes! Scary.
Anyone have their FedEx driver not ring the doorbell? I’ve had it happen twice in 3 weeks where the driver will put the “missed you” note on the door without ever ringing the doorbell.
Ever since I had my ring camera installed they haven’t tried that.
UPS driver who delivered 7 cases did do the tag, ring and walk away maneuver. My FIL was at my house and he chased his ass down the road and had him haul the cases up ![]()
Sign up the day they are arriving?
I’ve actually taped a handwritten note to the door that said “I’m Home” if I’ve decided to take a nap
Had a new one yesterday, a few days ago I rerouted a UPS shipment to the local store, paid the fee. Yesterday, the driver knocked on my door to deliver it. Fortunately I was home at the time. Now it shows in their system available for pick up, but signed for and has proof of delivery. When I look at the box, it clearly had been labeled to be rerouted to the UPS store.
I had a new last week. My UPS shipment arrived a day early. They get automatically rerouted to my local UPS store.
take a look at the original shipping label. is the UPS Store address over the original. If not thats why.
I’ll take a look tonight to double check, but I recall that it was covered up. Just my name was showing, no address.
Shipped all but FL, TX and AZ last Friday. Default to UPS unless asked. So far here are my stats…
83.0% delivered with no issues
5.5% missed first attempt
0.2% returned
0.0% damaged or missing
11.3% set for delivery tomorrow.
I’ve heard of several orders “going missing” with UPS this year so I’ve been biting my nails over it. So far, so good.
