FedEx Craziness

Both UPS and FedEx can have issues. In Minneapolis I have had very few issues with either one. More UPS than FedEx plus I used to do wine baller tastings for FedEx so I am always going to request them! I am sure each city has different results.

Fun with UPS today. Got the notification yesterday for four cases arriving today. Truck shows up right when expected, but with only one case. Driver says he noticed it was one case of four, and double-checked and confirmed it was on another truck and not his. (Nice of him to do that.) The tracking updates to show the other three cases will be delivered between 2 and 7 PM, and then about 4:30 PM tracking changes to between 2 and 5 PM, so I figure I’m gold. Of course they never show and tracking just switched to a Monday delivery.

Since I presume they were on a truck for delivery today, I’m guessing they sit on a truck all weekend. It’s supposed to hit 70 degrees tomorrow but just for a couple of hours, but who knows how warm that means in the truck if it’s sitting on a lot. I’m guessing everything will be fine because it’s been cold and it will be around 40 at night, so I doubt the bottles will warm up too much. Sunday will only be in the 50’s and all the nights are supposed to be cold. Anything to worry about here?

Same problems with FedEx here. Have had a couple 6 packs make it to the hub less than 5 miles from me me (northern Chicago burbs) with an alleged delivery date the next day. Twice, those 6 packs have then been moved to a FedEx hub in the Milwaukee area and then they’ve taken another 3-4 days to get back here and be delivered.

Also the “adult signature required” thing is enforced very unevenly…UPS usually rings the bell and requires an adult to sign (or at least the driver wants to make sure and adult is there), but most of the time FedEx just drops the package and takes off.

About 25 years ago, we had friends who lived in Utah. They were originally from India. Not Mormons. They told us that their reputation in the community was that they were horrible alcoholics because they were always going to the liquor store to by large amounts of hard liquor . . . for their Mormon friends who couldn’t be seen buying the stuff themselves.

Wow, they sound like amazing people to put up with all that.

There is a saying in Utah that you should always invite at least 2 Mormons over, because if you invite just one they’ll drink all your booze.

I got a FedEx Ground home delivery today (wine). Was a bit surprised to get a delivery on Sunday. Has that become commonplace ?

I was surprised when the doorbell rang yesterday morning with a FedEx wine delivery. On the other hand, I was expecting a case of wine on Friday via UPS. We weren’t going to be home Friday afternoon, so I paid to upgrade my My Choice membership since it appears we can no longer just have the shipment held for pickup and added a vacation hold for Friday. We expected to be able to pick up before or after we were out, but when I tracked the delivery, it said to check back the next day for updated delivery information. When I checked on Saturday, it showed the package was being returned to sender. Of course, you can’t reach a human on Saturday. Finally, I sent a private FB message and received a call from the local Customer Service center. They tracked the package down which fortunately had only made it back as far as the other side of town, so they are re-routing back to me. Hopefully, I’ll have it tomorrow.
