Favorite rum for a dark and stormy?

Tonight’s version:

3-ish parts Barritt’s (sugar, not HFCS) Ginger Beer, 1 part Koloa Kauai dark rum plus an extra float after I mixed in 1/2-ish tsp freshly grated ginger, juice from 2 small Key limes, and a couple of shakes of cayenne. Pretty good.

Thank you Mark
Off to Binny’s!

WF was out of Reed’s so I went up a price point. My new favorite: Maine Root Ginger Brew. I also have a concoction coming up later.

I finally found some Barritt’s in bottle at the local Shop-Rite in Rockaway NJ by my parents’ house. I was underwhelmed. Mixed up a dark n’ stormy with Gosling’s. It is not as spicy as the D&G ‘Jamaican Style’ (the hit on D&G is that it contains HFCS) or even the Reed’s Extra Ginger but does have what I think most folks would consider a ‘traditional’ flavor profile to it.

On another note, the label indicates this is produced under license by North American Beverage Inc, Ocean City NJ. http://www.northamericanbeverage.com/ As the site link is a dead end of sorts, I wonder if this is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola or an actual independent beverage company. The phone number is 609-399-1486, I might try calling them if I’m bored.

May I ask the West Coasters to report in on the production information on your bottles? If they are different sources that could be interesting.
