I put Napa as my selection, if just for Lewelling (I heart Lewelling) and any number of older cabs from Napa I’ve had in the past - it’s tough to get past how great those can be, but for much else from there, I’m not excited…
Tough call but I’m taking SC Mountains for the past/present(Ridge, Mt Eden) and for a promising future. Napa and Sonoma have to be in the running also though I have wines I love from most all of the regions minus Temecula and the Central Valley.
Ok, here’s a shocker: If There were no Napa, I would not be a wine lover today.
Maybe an occasional sipper of North Coast and SLH Syrahs. Nothing more.
two of us picked Temecula. I enjoyed my travels there… especially watching a guy covered in tats wearing ed hardy leading a drunk girl into the vineyard. cough
I went with Sonoma even though my favorite California wines have mostly been Napa Cabs. I just find Sonoma a lot more interesting due to the greater diversity of grapes grown there and the greater range in styles within specific kinds of wines, plus the region has a rugged beauty I just adore.
