This might be old news but I just stumbled across the “UK wine show” podcast. Among others, they have a three part interview with Jamie Goode on grape and vines biology. Fascinating stuff.
As an example, I just learned that vines can communicate with each other and with other organisms when under attack from diseases or pests.
Amazing! I wonder how much more we do not know.
Highly recommended.

You mean they shout out, “Look out! Here comes that pest with the shears to do the green harvest!”?
Paging Peter Cargasacchi. He probably is familiar with their languages and dialects. ![]()
Sort of; they use chemical signals to communicate with each other or to attract beneficial organisms to help in defending from pests.
The three part interview is full of interesting stuff. Much to learn and ponder.

Emilio,
Can you post a link?

Kevin:
I stumbled upon it when my daughter showed me how to get podcasts on my ipod.
There is a webpage though.

Worth listening to.
