Finished my recent purchases with the Commons “Urban Farmhouse”. Almost session like. Lacks a bit in the funky/spicey department but is a very nice easy and refreshing drink.
One brewery I’ll investigate further is Stillwater as K&L have quite a few different ones. I’ll definitely also get more of 12oz Dogfish Head as well as my old standards. Have to see what I can do about upright.
Btw I’ve learned that Logsdon also comes in 12oz but I have never seen that size, anyone around here seen them?
I see the basic Logsdon saison in 12oz pretty frequently up here. They seem to sell quick but are restocked relatively soon.
Guess we are not worthy way down here. The serious stores here don’t even carry Tank 7 in 12 oz, I have to go to BevMo for those!
Looks like I can order Upright 5 and 7 from K&L’s Redwood location. Is it safe to jump in and buy 2 of each?
YMMV, but I prefer 4 and 5 to 6 and 7. I’d get three 5s and one 7, but look at the Upright website to see whether the descriptions of each float your boat.
Scott, Thanks! I did look on the website first, but decided to see what you and others might have to say. I’d definitely try the 7, but would probably prefer the lower numbers over the higher ones.
May I recommend a Portland & Hood river road trip? You can come up and taste phenomenal beers, get them fresh & on tap instead of bottled.

Logsdon is closing to the public! WTF?!? Will really miss being able to visit. Great beer and awesome scenery. Guess I’ll just spend all my time at pFriem (and Analemma Winery) next time I visit the Gorge.
Drinking a 2013 Brasserie DuPont Foret Organic Saison. All the saison characteristics are there, but it is missing something. A bit dilute. Not bad at all, but would not buy again.
That has been my take on some of the regular Dupont bottles recently. Lacking in complexity and gets boring very quickly.
I’d guess that’s a result of poorly-stored bottles and/or old(ish) bottles. … could be wrong, of course.
I thought of that as well. Have not had much DuPont, so no basis for knowing if it is the beer or the provenance.
Some I like:
Ommegang
Boulevard
Jolly Pumpkin
Allagash
Victory
Lost Abbey
Brasserie Dupont sprl
Brasserie Fantôme
The Bruery
Surly
What is the “sprl” from DuPont?
Not sure, that is how BA had it.
Biggest quality issue with Dupont is the green bottles. They’re lightstruck/skunked more often than not at least where i buy them. Sometimes it’s borderline but it does seem to affect the flavor.
Trying something new today: Brouwerij West, Saison Extra. The bottle says San Jose, but a quick search indicates the brewery might be in Palos Verdes?
Yesterday I tried the 2014 Saison Brett from Boulevard. Better than the '13 at a similar stage, but the '13 aged really well. The beer is a great mixture of citrus and spice both on nose and body. The foam can best be described as shaving cream.
How was that Brouwerji West, Peter. I’ve passed on buying them many times, but not really for any particular reason.
Brian, fine but nothing special. Might have suffered in comparison with the Seison Bretta.
The Dupont Saison I had from bottle last night was in very good condition. Eastern Idaho is not exactly an imported beer Mecca so I may have lucked out.
