Noticed sad news that they will apparently cease publication. It was mentioned a few days ago here on the elmundovino.com forum. This was the best wine magazine in Spain, and one of the best I’ve seen from anywhere. Published by José Peñín of the Peñín guides to spanish wine. It had regular columns by many good writers including Víctor de la Serna, Carlos Falcó (Marqués de Griñón), Jancis Robinson and Michel Bettane, as well as editorials by Peñín.
I used to subscribe several years back, but recently the process of subscribing from overseas became more difficult, so I’ve been out of touch with the magazine, but still looked forward to picking up copies when we were back on our yearly trips to Spain. It’s a real shame it won’t be available anymore.
I’m not sure that there’s any obvious replacement for it within Spain. IIRC there’s another called “Vino + Gastronomía” that’s OK, although it tends more towards food and high culture than wine.
