You all are making me very anxious…not good for anxiety issues! As mentioned up thread, currently using a supply of Zalto Universal (of which one is in mail for replacement purposes) and this Kane looks like the “next level” to the Zalto! Already in for one 6 glass purchase yesterday and now thinking this Kane needs to be side by side tested… Have to get to my offer that just published (Deaver Vineyards) then will get back to ordering.

It’s now called the Kang (mix of Kane and Kong)
If you drink delicate and pure reds like Red Burgundy, Northern Rhones, some Piedmonte, the Fu will be the best stem you ever use. Function over looks is my motto!
I haven’t gotten my sample yet so I can only comment on the design!
The intent of this glass was to be a classic, retro-style all-purpose glass that bucks all the stemware fads of the last several decades:
- Riedel? Too big. Can’t fit in the dishwasher, can’t fit too many at a place setting either. And don’t get me started on the “areas of your tongue” nonsense.
- Zalto? Also too big. And too angular. A glass should have curves.
- Conterno? Too fat. It’s iike they took the Champagne coupe modeled on Marie Antoinette’s breast, but instead modeled it on Kim Kardashian’s ass. (Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. Sorry.)
The shape was based on photographs of vintage stems beloved by many noble personages of the Duchy of Burgundy:
The scale is intended to make it the ultimate berserking glass - a civilized vessel for entirely uncivilized quantities of wine. Many stems should fit at a place setting and I am hopeful that a full wine dinner’s worth might actually fit in the top dishwasher rack.
I am thrilled to bring this back after all these years!
Am in for some Kane glasses this year! Enjoyed the GV home universals purchased for myself and family last year, and would recommend those as well
Thanks for feedback Fu, totally agree when sitting in my back yard by myself. Huge fan of Oregon Pinot!! Burgundy kind of out of my reach lately. My listing took me away for now (Deaver) so hope to get back to David soon to add to yesterdays order…
We sent it out but USPS seems like they have either lost it, we’ll probably have to resend ![]()
The Kane’s have got to be one of the best glasses I have ever used. The Levenberg looks cool as well. So glad to see the Kane back this year!!!
Goldarnit. Well, I am chomping at the bit to try these puppies, whenever they arrive. Thanks.
I’ve been champing at the bit for these as well. What a cool concept. I use the Kane almost exclusively.
Is the Kane used as a universal glass?
I pretty much use it as such. I still grab many other of my favorites as well, but I think on a subconscious level I lean to that one quite a bit. I know I have drunk older wines with it, but I don’t think I have drunk very old wines with them yet. Hopefully soon.
And Keith man I’m excited about yours. You put a lot of thought into them I can see!!!
Holy paradox, Batman! Is the Kane used as a Universal glass, or is the Universal used as a Kane glass? ![]()
A couple of questions on the Universal:
what is the diameter of the opening?
what do they weigh
I assume I pay return shipping if I returned them during the test drive?
Thanks
Thank you David for all your Time and Help,
Never intended to go away with 4 two packs (Obsession, Fu, Kane, Levenberg) and 1 four pack (Prestige), but am very excited to get into these.
Brad
Hi Chris,
Opening is 7cm
Weight is about 100g (there is variation, this is not a guarantee or anything like that)
Buyer pays for return shipping unless it is seller’s error, however, we can pay for return shipping if you’d prefer gift card instead
Regards,
David
Stunning I need to choose one from the line for univeral use for white and red - what do you recomend?
imho… Prestige is the best glass in the Glasvin lineup…
If you’re not sure, would go Universal
I universally use the Kane as a universal in the universe, which means its a universal and universally used as a Kane glass, unless I’m drinking an old burgundy, at which time I use a FU
