I’ve been so happy to see you have fun today … get a good rest tonight! Even more fun on its way!
Elise and Ken what amazing growers and winemakers with a can do attitude. Always adding the big guns energy to Napa Valley. Great climate for Pinot and Chard. Peep Ken’s amazing collection of slot machines too. Cheers and what a great offer!
Yes, the slot machine collection!! Thanks for mentioning that @Lucia_Hossfeld . Here’s the slot machine 411: around the same time Ken began growing wine grapes in Napa Valley, he started collecting slot machines too. Ken Nerlove has so many slot machines at his Napa ranch he could start his own casino.
But Nerlove isn’t looking to get into gambling. Instead, this Napa grape grower and businessman likes to buy vintage one-arm bandits, fix ‘em up and resell, trade or keep them for his own collection.
He runs a side business called Napa Slot Machines.
“Slot machines always intrigued me,” Nerlove said. Collecting and repairing the machines “is just a lot of fun.”
Besides the mechanics involved, the reason people play slot machines is just as fascinating to him, said Nerlove.
Most people play slots with the hope of winning, he said. And yet they keep playing, even after they lose.
“It’s an intriguing philosophy,” he said.
Ken has hundreds of slot machines in various states of restoration. Most machines were built between the 1920s – 1960s.
When does Ken find the time to work on slot machines as a grape grower? Mostly in the winter. It’s his “rainy day” hobby that ballooned into a fun side hustle.
Wine and one arm bandits make for one hell of a Friday night!

I hope everyone is having a great #BD14. Don’t miss out on our Berserker Day offer…and if you find yourself thinking about vintage slot machines, I know a guy!
Cheers,
Elise
For everyone who’s purchased too much wine on bd14, Ken has some sage advice…
His collection is EPIC!
What a treat!
I like the slots, but I prefer to spend my house payment on BerserkerDay.
Thank you for busting balls!
Ordered the “Busting Balls” pack and I am excited to give it a try!
@Pa7rick_Wi11iams you rock, thank you for purchasing with us on BD14 and also for supporting the ball busters!! Please let us know how you like the wines when you receive your shipment. Cheers, Elise
Awesome collection, great wine & truly wonderful family❣️
Thanks for keeping your offers up over the weekend! In for The Donnybrook 6 pack. I can’t wait to try your wines.
I am glad to get a chance to buy it and look forward to trying it!
Should I let the Pinots age some more?
By the way, my wife and I really like what you guys stand for as far as making sure the little guys can keep going without being taken over by corporations.
Give Sheila props for marketing, she knew I’d like this. Did a 6 of the Donnybrook.
Keep breaking balls!
@sdfruman Thank you Sheila, it’s so nice to connect with you! The Donnybrook is an incredible assortment of our wines. Please let me know how you like the wines. -Elise
@Rich_K0rz_nk0 woohoo! And thank you very much for the referral @sdfruman!
@Pa7rick_Wi11iams I recommend drinking the Pinots now. They’re tasting vibrant with beautiful fruit forward notes, my dad calls the current release Pinot a “cherry bomb.” If you like them, you can always come back for more and lay them down to age. I find our Pinots age beautifully for up to 10 years. Excited to have you taste through our wines!
Sounds wonderful! Thank you for the advice!
Elise, I just opened the PetNat, and it’s wonderful! I definitely need to get more of that! I can’t wait to try the rest of my 6 pack!
@sdfruman a perfect way to pick off the long weekend. Thank you for leaving me this note, you made my day Sheila! Cheers. And FYI, more Pet Nat is coming…! We are set to release a new vintage in May 2023.
