Excuse me, can I help you?

I was behind my garage picking apples before work this morning while my truck was warming up.
When I emerged it saw a car backing down my driveway. I watched all the way down as it turned around and continued down the hill. I put the apples in my truck and left for work. When I crested the top of my hill I saw the car leaving my road and turning rt. As I drove out I turned rt as well. On the next driveway I saw that same car flipping a u-turn. I pulled over and watched as it went back up my road and turned into my driveway.
One way in, one way out and I drive a big truck so I’m thinking “I’ve got this guy cornered.”
As I came up the hill I could see someone walking up the stairs to my porch. I drove up and was about to say “Hey, this is private property, WTF are you doing here?” when down steps John Holdredge with a bottle of wine in his mitt. It was a replacement for a bottle I had over the weekend that was cork tainted. Totally out of the blue.
A+++++++++++ guy! :slight_smile:

You didn’t just shoot first and ask questions later??

Good thing you didn’t try to run him over!

Awesome story!

Kudos to him!

And that’s what it’s all about!

did you ask for ID? Lots of people go around claiming to be John Holdredge.

Geez. If having Holdredge show up at your house is the price you pay for reporting a flawed bottle, I might just suck it up. Wow.

+1 and I don’t even know the guy! Great story, great follow-up line.

You can’t, like, own land, man.

Hahahahahaha

Holdredge is a lawyer, right? You’ll get a bill within 30 days.

Y’all can laugh all you want- but when was the last time Gary Farrell delivered a replacement bottle to your house?

(it’s a “house” joke that Brian heard about…)

Great story Brian. And John too. Now I feel dumb - we should have called Mascarello a few weeks ago when we had a corked Barolo!

what a creep

I’m pretty sure that guy is glad California is not a ‘stand-your-ground’ state. [wow.gif]

There’s more to this than meets the eye… … Holdredge was going to filch some apples… steal some tools… something… . no… … there is more to this than we are hearing… we need some lawyers speculating on this…

I agree. We all know how sharp and devious all lawyers are. Clearly, he had been about to pilfer the apples when he saw Brian come back. He then thought quickly and grabbed a bottle of wine out of the back of his truck (probably had been there for months), and said “Here, I . . . uh, um, . . . yeah, I came to bring you this bottle.”

Think about it. Had he not been there for nefarious purposes, he would would have stopped Brian when he saw him leaving his home. In fact, why did he start up Brian’s driveway, only to leave immediately upon seeing Brian at home. Mighty suspicious behavior. Brian, I think you should call the police now.

Stalker! Watch your back.

Exactly… something like this… all that evasive behavior… indeed… Thanks, Prof…
