Eurocave vs La Cache vs ???

How much are the wci credenzas? They look nice.

I have the le cache euro credenza in chocolate cherry and it’s nice. Very nice build quality.

My credenza was a bit over $5k including tax, excluding shipping.

Yeah, I would say it’s pretty normal. The temps you are seeing displayed is just air temperature; the unit turns on at 58 degrees and cools it to 54.4 it seems before turning off; otherwise it would be “on” the entire time which wouldn’t be good for the cooling unit. The liquid temperature fluctuates a lot less - based on your air temp readings, your liquid is probably stable at 56.5 ish, so you’re fine.

I put a kit like this in mine for lighting; looks and works great. This manufacturer has different models available with a variety of sizes and controls.

My Eurocave is on tile laid on concrete slab, so I can’t speak to floor loading issues.

However, I can say it has run quietly and without complaint since I bought it in 2003. The only problem I have encountered is that the digital thermometer display quit working a very long time ago.

I am very happy with my purchase.

At least back when I bought mine, they were able to send me small samples of each finish to see in person. Worth asking if you haven’t already.

Thanks! The led kit looks pretty nice and probably what I’d do to save $50. I did get the samples. Really wanted to confirm it was that dark vs potential variation.
I’m in the process of getting a return processed for me WE. I had some bad Customer Service from them so am avoiding a Eurocave cause I’d have to deal with WE again. The Le Cache seems really solid and recommended from a lot of people. However, reading reviews on the Cellarpro 1800XT unit, sounds like they go out around 7-ish years. Has that been the case for anyone else or heard that’s normal? Seems kinda short.

All, any thoughts of general placement of wines in the Le Cache cabinet based the temp variations from the top to bottom, left and right? Like putting red wines for aging at the bottom of the cabinet? Cabs, Barolos, with Pinot’s next and then Chardonnay’s and whites wines toward the top of the cabinet.

I put whites and champagnes at the bottom, above that PN and other light body wines then full body wines on top. Coldest at bottom and warmer at top.

The temp variation at the top of the Le Cache versus the bottom is at least 2-3 degrees warmer. Also, on the top bulk storage the bottles are much cooler on the left side where the fan is than the opposite side where the fan isn’t.

Thanks Dennis and Yong. I noticed the side without the fan is definitely slightly higher in temp. I’ll need to add temp gauges in all four sections to monitor more closely.

For those with packed cellars, how many slots do you keep open below the left side fan to maintain cellar efficiency and minimize running down your fans. I have kept the full slot below and one full row/slot in the shelving unit. I did add the 4” shipping tubes to the open storage space both sides.

I think you guys are overthinking this. I have mine pretty much 100% full with some bottles stacked in relative disarray horizontally as well. I use it for medium term storage to store wine I want to have upstairs; it seems to work fine.

My unit is completely full including bulk storage with 4” tubes. I have the 3100 Vault unit. I leave the space right below the fan empty of 2 slots. I had them used originally, but I ended up having condensation build on the center metal piece. All works great now.

I got a crazy good deal on an old EuroCave for about $800 and it is great. Adjustable shelves can fit pretty much any bottle size. No significant temperature variation. Charcoal air filters are very easy to replace without spending money on official branded replacements. Its very quiet- I have it in my bedroom without a problem! The only downside is that this thing is a beast to move. It is REALLY heavy and I needed to get a moving crew for it. Getting it into a basement might be a challenge. Sounds like either brand will work for you though!
