Just got the post card in the mail for the 2012 vintage. Website orders begin 10/8 and run through 10/19. First come first served. Doesn’t specify the # of bottles in an OWC. Typically it is two bottles, but given my allocation size I’m wondering if they upped it to 3 or 4 per pack.
$150 per bottle, which I believe is a $25 increase from last year.
Received an invitation too. I’ve never had the Etain but did purchase a 3-pack of Scarecrow a few years ago, which I enjoyed. How does the Etain compare to Scarecrow? Anyone know? The letter/card mentioned $150 per and up to a case but it’s at first come, first served, beginning on the 8th.
I’m a little annoyed that they didn’t specify the number of bottles per pack like they did back in 2010 when I bought. But of course, we’ll all find out in a mere 2 days … Also, they didn’t seem to specify production - I imagine they probably had lots of juice in 2012 - hell - in 2010 the max allotment was a single 2-pack!
I might buy if they allow 2-packs. Definitely not if the minimum is a 4-pack.
I logged in to update info a few weeks ago and my allocation was listed. I wasnt able to order but it was 12 bottles. Ordering options were either 6pk x 2 or 6pk x 1 + 2pk x3. Not sure if they are planning to change this but ill probably take a 6 pk.
They keep sending me offers. I’ve never bought the wine, never signed up for it, and have never had the wine. I bought Scarecrow once, the first year I was offered; I assume this is how I got on this list.
I’ve been buying Scarecrow since 05 but never bought Etain. I’m thinking about maybe getting a two pack, but it will probably cause some of my friends to burst into flames.
Jay, I bought one of the early releases of Scarecrow but never offered any since then - maybe 5 years ago. I used to get notices that I wasn’t high enough on the list to receive an allocation that year. But I don’t remember getting anything similar the last year or two. Am I doing something wrong? Or is that just SOP for them? In '96 or thereabouts, I left two messages on Helen Turley’s answering machine (which I was told was the only way to get on the list for Marcassin). I’ve never heard from them in 18 years. Guess that’s a write-off.
I recall an older article where Scarecrow mentioned they wanted to keep the wine around $125-$150. And I’m referring to the flagship wine since there wasn’t a second. Yeah…
I have had '09 and liked it tremendously more than the Scarecrow.
