Looking for recommendations and real-world experiences with electric wine openers. I’ve been dealing with a bad back and twisting/pulling corks has become more difficult than I expected.
I’m looking for something that is:
• Easy to use
• Reliable
• Doesn’t require much force or awkward movement
• Preferably long-lasting
Would love to hear what brands/models people have had good luck with — and which ones to avoid. Thanks in advance!
Whilst not electric - have you tried screwpull? It’s a straightforward down/up motion and easily shifts even stubborn corks. There are also similar ones that you mount on a work surface and look a little like a (beer) hand pump.
The screwpull is what I use now, it’s just too difficult. Unfortunately I need something Electric not just a lever pull.
my brother in law has one of these and is happy with it. I used it once and it seemed decent but no idea on long term use.
My wife uses Rabbit due to wrist pain. Works with ease for her. It has NOT done well with older corks.
Friends have the Rabbit and like it. They rarely open anything over 15 years old. I’d be dubious about any electric opener’s ability to handle old, fragile corks.
You may have tried, but a table mounted leverpull and pretty close to no effort.
I have seen an battery (or maybe it was gas cartridge) opener that worked but injecting air into the space between the cork and wine. It uses a needle which inserts thru the cork. It worked pretty well but I’ve never need one for sale.
Oster is supposed to be good. Post shoulder surgery I used a CorkPops that uses gas cartridges.
I’d give the Oster a try.
