Educated Guess: 07 vs 08 - 4 out of 5 dentist recommend....

The wife decided to have a blind tasting based on my comments that WBers were saying the 07 was a one hit wonder.

4 out of 5 people at dinner preferred the 07. The lone 08 fan was not a wine drinker. And the 07 was picking up steam as it sat in the decanter.

General opinion the 07 has more complexity, better mouthfeel, and less astringent.

personally I’d say the 07 is +3 RP points versus the 08.

How about the '09? Available in my area.

I grabbed an '08 and couldn’t get through a glass. Tasted like a weird mocha alcohol milkshake. It tasted unlike an other cab I’ve had. Not interested in trying again.

Heard the 09 is out but not in my hood yet. Not much interest from me actually. wife likes it so I’m sure it’ll show up soon in the cellar.

Too funny Brig…

Have had all three wines in a relatively small amount of time…maybe all within a rolling month. 2007 is obviously a wine built for my palate as I have sung its praises since day one of tasting some. 2008 is exactly what Jeb described, and I won’t be bothered to get any more. 2009, IMO, with a little bottle age should be as good or better than the '07. Around here it is $18 before any case discount is applied. A no brainer to have on hand as a house wine.

Enzo, I do not think you will be disappointed with the 2009 EG. My feeling is to let mine settle for about six months or so, and then start into them.

And when you get to Willamette Valley it will be the perfect BYO bottle…

Nice. I give this post 95 pts.

You probably heard wrong.

Just picked up an '09 at lunch today. BIll this better not suck like the '08. That shit was terrible. [cheers.gif]

Jeb, the 2008 was pretty crappy. I think you will like the '09 with a little bit of air on it.
