Eating and Drinking in San Francisco

Does anyone know of any higher end / fancier restaurants that are open for lunch on a Tuesday or Thursday?

Angler and Kin Khao are open, but all of our other favorites are not…

Dalida perhaps?

Starbelly is not high end, but it’s like 1er cru instead of Gran cru. It’s open for lunch tues

You were drunk. The alcohol was the truth. You would find the burritos too heavy and unbalanced like an over oaked cab if you were sober

That may have been true at 2:00am back in the 90s, but this was more recent and much more sober.

Yup, Dalida is open both days for lunch.

Nobody ever said the recent burritos are better than the past. And seems like you’ve had the burritos from the past.

How do you feel about taqueria Cancun?

Love it, great tacos. Typically prefer burrito at Farolito and tacos at Cancun. Also love the asada at Cancun but Farolito I’m more of an al pastor guy

If I remember correctly, farolito has the shawarma style trompo for the pastor, Cancun doesn’t. Which will make that pastor crispy on the outside and juicy inside. I remember Cancun has better salsas and they were spicier. The flavors were more layered. Farolito Is a big heavy handed for me, but I will still eat it if I’m drinking on that side of the mission.

Farolito Is like a Parker style cab. Cancun is like a brunello. La taquería is like a nice clean gamay.

Agree Cancun has better salsas, and their chips are typically better too. Farolito is definitely a richer burrito, which is why I like it I think.

La Taq is good but it’s not my favorite burrito style - I am a fan of both rice and beans in the burrito, which they famously lack the former. I still respect them though. The dorado-style burrito was a genius innovation and it is fantastic.

Well timed article about burritos in the city.

I meant Pancho villa instead of la taq. I got them confused. I think actual Mexicans own la taq, that’s why there’s no rice and they toast the outside, that’s how burritos are in Mexico. But I’m with you, it’s better with rice and beans.

Can you summarize? It forces you to log into the chronicle to read it.

IMHO, the best tacos (and probably burritos, too) are at El Gallo Giro. Taco truck on 23rd & Treat that’s open only M-F 10-5pm…
