No yelling.
Wines by the glass were weak, sommelier pushing a flat 03 Chablis, when I tasted it and demurred, I didn’t see him for the rest of the meal.

this is the ultimate in damning-with-faint-praise i’ve ever seen here. bravo.
have sunday dinner open in a couple of weeks, where should we go? Nothing that requires a jacket. Excellent wine list would be favorable (not heavy on natural wines is a plus)
.
awesome. another buddy recommended Le Bon Georges as well. Looking on instagram it looks super tasty. Might drop there for lunch/dinner. Clown Bar is on the list as well. Will look into the others!
I did peruse the PBM list, but wine is as important as the food! ![]()
Going to CAM Import/Export this Sunday

I took Mike Grammer to Amarante on a Sunday and it was pretty good, iirc.
Charlie - Clown Bar is my Sunday staple in Paris. I am not a fan of natural wine, but have never had any trouble finding something delicious to drink there. If they still have Domaine de Chassorney St. Romain Combe Bazin, that’s a perfect choice. The food is some of my favorite in Paris - that isn’t to say I think it deserves a “best” label, but like L’avant Comptoir and its brethren, I just love everything about the place. Clamato, a sister restaurant to Septime, is also open on Sundays and highly recommended.
My Sunday go-tos are Le Bon Georges,
My wife booked LBG, based on her local friend’s recommendation, for our upcoming Sunday dinner in 3 weeks time. Good to see the suggestion here.
Juveniles was a real positive surprise. I had read good things elsewhere do have it a try. Duck food gras terrine, squid in its own ink and pollock were all very toothsome, and the last two were more complex than they sound (in a good way). Fine wine by the glass, a Saumaize Vire Clisse was nice but the star was their house Beaujolais (2015) by Chermette. If you love Beaujolais, this is the wine deal of Paris at 20 euros a bottle. Great price point all around.
Wife also booked Juveniles for upcoming dinner next month. Happy to see the positive report on both food and wine.

Am a huge Juvenlies fan and used to eat there regularly! Other note, for what it’s worth - super English-friendly and the staff is great. Michel Abood convinced Margaux (lady that runs the place) to pose with a bottle of Cayuse Bionic Frog, which I posted over in my Adventures in Paris thread ![]()

Knowing enough of Michel, that’s sounds a little tame. ![]()
Thanks for the added enablement. Can’t wait.
Paris By Mouth has a pretty comprehensive list of restaurants open on Sunday https://parisbymouth.com/paris-restaurant-open-sunday/. The restaurants I like that are open Sunday tend to be heavy on natural wines. Of those that aren’t and don’t require a jacket, maybe the original L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in the 6er will have the best wine list, but it isn’t inexpensive. Also open on Sunday (but not on the PBM list) are Le Rigmarole and Le Bon Georges. My Sunday go-tos are Le Bon Georges, L’Assiette, Clown Bar, Amarante, Automne, Les Enfants Rouges, Le Rigmarole. My choices focus on food rather than wine, but I can always find something I want to drink for a price I’m willing to pay. I don’t bother to bring a jacket any more, as I’ve no interest any longer in going to the restaurants that require them,

excellent, totally forgot about clamato too! thanks everyone!

Le Bon Georges serves great beef from the butcher Polmard. Polmard recently opened a butcher shop/restaurant at Rue de Grenelle and Blvd Raspail in the 7er. Also open on Sunday.
you are a wellspring of paris knowledge sir!

Not to be overlooked: Mr. T from the team at Passage 53. Around the corner from Marche des Enfants Rouge, open Sunday and serves great bistro/bar food, including a burger that will make your knees quake. Everything on the menu is good. And very fun. Great people. https://instagram.com/mrtrestaurant?utm_source=ig_profile_share&igshid=7jq8c8el8zls
oh damn thank you!! I remember when they opened and I wanted to check it out. This gets priority as we are staying pretty close to there!
David Toutain was great for 2/3 of the meal, but an epic fail for a main (think parsnip roots that had the consistency of sticks and no seasoning for my wife, well seasoned parsnip roots with 1.5 oz of a protein I said I didn’t want for me) marred the evening. Pre desert of caramel and seaweed was odd too, but would have been a minor thing if not for the main.
While I liked the inventiveness of many of the courses, it didn’t leave a great impression overall.
Toutain was awarded Michelin ** yesterday.
ugh. the only day we have free, they don’t have dinner spots available. I’m the only one in the group that’s been, really wanted them to try it.

I’ll strongly support all the recommendations for Clown Bar, as well as the others folks mentioned. Brutos is also on my favorites list for Sunday dining, they do some great grilling there, but it is heavy in natural wines (good ones as well as others, I’ll admit).
