Your travel and restaurant reports are many, varied and always interesting. I have huge respect for your palate and experience. However, you may not realize that sometimes when you present an opinion on someone else’s post, your tone borders on the hectoring.
Thank you for the feedback.
Thanks for the suggestion - it appears I can swap out a dinner for Eme next Tuesday night, I’ve heard amazing things from many people so I will do that. Putting my next question out into the ether - Cypsele or Orson? I’ll have to pick between the two for our Saturday dinner.
Love both but I would go with Cypsele.
I thought that flight was only in December, how did you hear about it for April? Had I known I would have taken the family to Paris as that falls smack in the middle of my son’s Spring Break.
You’ll want to keep an eye on the annual AACR meeting dates. My wife attends, and I believe it’s usually in April.

Warning: Shameless Plug for friends of mine
Wine Spectator posted an article this week about the best wine bars in Paris and our favorite place, La Bonbonnet was listed.
Stop by and say hello to Stephane and Samantha.
Was actually on my list when we are there next week!
I am planning to stop by this weekend at some point. I’ll make a note to say hello.
Can you share the full list?
I don’t have it. It’s behind a WS paywall.
Edit: This is as much of the list that Gemini can find:
Willi’s Wine Bar: Located at 13 Rue des Petits Champs, this legendary spot has been a staple for over 30 years and was one of the first in Paris to champion Northern Rhône Syrahs.
Le Comptoir des Caves Legrand: Situated within the historic Galerie Vivienne, it offers a sophisticated tasting environment led by top sommeliers.
La Bonbonnette Bar à Vin: Recommended as a top spot for an evening immersion into French wine culture.
I found out about it on reddit a few months back. From my internet sleuthing, I can see the Air France charter plane has also done this for another medical conference pertaining to hematology. I’ll be setting up alerts for future SAN-CDG routes and will make sure to post here next time.
Hell, if it’s that cheap, I’ll layover in SD the night before and hit @Michel_Abood up for dinner. On second thought, the last time he had me over, he served natty wine and made me eat on his front lawn…
I was trying to cure you of Covid, you were driving around the country in mid-2020. That was a fun meal however…
Is this the one that’s the sister wine bar or Bin 152 in Charleston?
Yes, Sir. While they both have good curated snacks, there’s a difference.
Bin has touristy tasting flights and beers. Perfect for being on King St.
LB is a typical Parisian wine bar, mostly filled with locals.
Other restaurants in their group are Malagon and Chez Nous.
I would have been fine skipping Orson on our trip last month. It was good, but the fusion of flavors felt awkward at times. Didn’t make it to Cypsele.
had a gorgeous lunch at épopée. the chef is japanese and worked at clamato and pilgrim among other establishments. unbelievable cooking for <30 euro. has only been open since october and already got a shout out from that tire guide.
Looks delicious.
