Lots of great stuff in that corridor along Fort Greene Park. Miss Ada, Theodora, Sailor, Colonia Verde. A bit further out but Sofreh is great too.
Some great choices above. I really liked Theodora.
I would also add Fradei and Oma Grasso (excellent Pizza and nice small wine list). Corkage Friendly.
What are you seeing at the Paramount? It’s a great venue.
Jason and Robert have it pretty well covered. Good places that are closest that they did not mention include Sukh, Strange Delight, Margot, Saraghina Caffé, and Evelina, all in Fort Greene, and you could consider Gage and Tollner in downtown Brooklyn. Or you could just go to Junior’s!
As always, great calls - 2 of my favorites!
Place de Fetes in Clinton Hill is also good and a little bit of an easier table to snag than Theodora (which is great).
We are seeing The Beths on 12/5. Should be fun. Never been to the Paramount before.
And thanks everyone for the quick help!! I will start looking into these spots and make a reservation.
I just went to Theodora at Brooklyn last Wednesday. Great food and good corkage fee. I can only bring 2 bottles and it’s 50$ per bottle. We are a group of 6 so we basically ordered everything from the menu and they are all amazing! The open fire really gives food a special smoky flavor that you can’t experience in other restaurants! Highly recommend it!
Theodora is excellent.
Great photos!
How was the 2011 Faiveley Beze? I’ve liked 2011 Faiveley more than others, although admittedly haven’t had one in a couple of years.
Trying out Nuyores tonight. Has anyone been?
Did the wines pair well with the dishes at Theodora? I’m thinking of bringing a bottle of Mugnier clos de la Marechale 2017, but I’m a bit concerned since the menu seems to focus mostly on grilled seafood. Do you think an off-dry Riesling might be a better fit?
I think both could work with most dishes. The riesling would be better for the entire menu.
Thanks for the response, Robert! I didn’t really like the wine list at Theodora, and my cellar isn’t that deep, so my other options would be a ’12 Prum spatlese (graacher himmelreich), Hammelmann roter berg chard ’23, or a Weiser-Kunstler Kabi ’21. I was also wondering if a burgundy chard might work, though i’m a bit skeptical because of the oak. Hoping to get it right since we’re going there to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
The back half of the list is easy.
I think white wine definite pairs better than the red wine since they are mostly seafood. We ordered a white wine from the restaurant. The wine itself is not that great but pars great with their main dish!
It’s great. I feel like med + intensity of red fruit. Very elegant, firm and well balanced.
Ate at I Cavallini last night for the first time. Really fun night. Service and hospitality was exactly what you get across the street at The Four Horseman. Food is (obviously) Italian focused.
We shared a bunch of stuff. Highlights were the pastas and one of the mains. The two pastas were porcini rice which was a riff on risotto but for some reason not nearly as heavy. The other one was the farfallone with pancetta and chilis. Essentially it was a few huge bow tie pastas with a tasteful amount of heat. Although I rarely order chicken out, the roast chicken with chestnuts and garlic was outstanding. A few other dishes that were all very good included focaccia with whipped ricotta and pumpkin, mackarel crudo with grapes, eel toast, and autumn salad with ramp vinegarette. The only miss was blue fin tuna belly with beans entree. It may have been intentional, but I found the fish overcooked. But more importantly, it was too fishy.
Dessert, which we also rarely order was the olive oil cake (same as at 4HM) but with roasted quince and the tiramisu. Both were outstanding and super classy in the way that they were clearly desserts, but not overly sweet or heavy.
An added bonus is they have a full bar so we started with cocktails and then moved to wine. The list is much smaller than 4HM and all Italian. What stunned me is the vast majority of the white wines (what we prefer) were under $100 or just over.
Will definitely return soon.

Any recommendations for a long, boozy Friday solo lunch with a great wine list?
The Four Horsemen? The Grill?
