I’ve eaten the tasting menu of crudo and cooked. The cooked dishes are complicated and good. The crudo are exceptional.
Discrete is key. I have never had a problem. Of course if you break out a beer it is a different story.

Fantastic meal – and yes, the focaccia was phenomenal. We complemented it with the artichoke dip, which was really special.
We went with a group so were able to try a lot of the dishes. While I was most excited for the pastas, they were not the star of the show for us (we had the mint pea and the goat).
Favorite dishes were the broccolini/chicory caesar, the cod, and the skirt steak. I typically never order steak, but it was phenomenal.

I enthusiastically agree. AN is the closest place we have to an Italian ristorante. The ice cream is pretty special too, Lipitor not included.

For a very good Omakase experience I’d highly recommend Sushi Masuyoshi. $185 pp for about 20 items. Corkage is $75! which is a bit extreme so ordered sake instead.
i ate there last year and it was $165 with free corkage. felt like considerable deal. i actually tried to go back a few weeks ago and it was pretty much booked solid. while on the topic of omakase, has anybody been to mori nozomi?
That’s right. Prices went up this year and he got a license to sell beer/wine. Also he was quite sick for two months and still require treatment so it’s just one seating on Wed Fri or Sat.

Has anyone been to Plateia on (or near) UCLA campus.
Need Sunday pretheater , Lulu classes a bit too early, Violet closed Sundays, didn’t like Wolfglen’s.
Hakata Izkaya Hero seemed like an option but not walking distance from the Geffen, and it’s a 7:00 curtain.
Is there any good food near the Anaheim Convention center and/or Disney? Or am I kinda in a food desert out there when I’m in town for a work conference in September?
there is some great Vietnamese food a short hop down the 22 in garden grove.
Had a really great (and well priced) dinner at Firstborn in Chinatown
First time. Really enjoyed it. I still can’t quite get over that it’s $68 for four courses and all the supplemental are sub $30. Also their cocktails are fantastic. Incredible balanced and elegant drinks. We were not upsold on caviar but the other server definitely was upselling it. I don’t see a problem with that, it’s an excellent revenue generator.

Plenty of things in Anaheim, Irvine, Santa Ana, etc. You should be able to find pretty much whatever you want. Brewpubs are solid – Brewery X & Hangar 24 are among the more popular & have good eats
I’ve never been. I think it’s on the UCLA campus.
Any suggestions for a non-beer drinker? bonus points if also good for a solo diner. I’d really like any specific Asian, Middle Eastern, or African spots anyone suggests (no preference on country of origin, we just have no good non-European or American food near me)

ANaheim Packing District has a ton of food stalls. Generally pretty good.
If you’re down to drive a little bit (15-20 minutes) it really opens up for vietnamese food
