Eating and Drinking in Los Angeles

I’m going to be pouring wine next Friday at Stir Crazy. Very excited to be in town for a couple of days.

What’s the menu like at dinner and the corkage policy? Enjoy your time in LA and let us know if you need any recommendations.

Restaurant Ki

Kato snubbed.

Seline was robbed!!!

I’m excited for Somni and Providence though.

Has anyone been to Ki? I found Kinn good but not great, but maybe because it was kind of like fine dining on a budget (relatively speaking).

kato deserves ** but prob need to tweak their service profile

Nozomi also gets a star- one of the best sushi spots in LA

Very happy for Ki. I do think Baroo deserves a star. But not at all surprised they did not get one. It is not the type of restaurant Michelin understands. They value luxury ingredients above all and over extremely detailed, intricate cooking. When I look at the list of Michelin star restaurants in LA it also does not seem to capture what excites / interest me about LA dining.

Pretty wild LA Michelin reveal. I’m very happy for Providence, what a story and journey for them over 20 years. There are 18,000 Michelin recommended restaurants and 157 Three Stars, but they’re one of only 38 who have Four Stars in the world. Regardless of what one may think of Michelin ratings, that’s a really high bar.

That said, I agree with @Robert_Dentice that generally speaking Michelin and LA aren’t really a great fit for each other.

There are 4-star Michelin restaurants?

selfishly happy about Seline getting robbed. My wife and I had reservations a couple Thursdays ago, but my diverticulitis made us reschedule. I was worried our deposit wouldn’t be going so far by the time our rescheduled date comes along, on account of receiving a star in the interim. All for naught, I guess.

I hadn’t been in a good ten years but recently went to the Los Feliz branch. Still tasty and a crazy good value.

We just went again tonight and loved it again. Hope you enjoy when you go!

Did you get the new menu? I thought I saw an email or post from them recently where they were previewing the change.

Yes, the menu last night was almost completely different than the menu I had in January. In general, I prefer winter/autumn menus to summer/spring, and that was no different here, but it was still a really great meal, and I felt the menu was very ambitious. It’s really nice to see Seline pushing themselves so much to keep everything fresh and creative.

What is (are?) Noms?

Typo in my excitement. But you should have guessed Noma : )

I guess they have been paying attention to what I have been saying about LA :joy:

I dunno, there might well be a restaurant or an app or a food festival called Noms, as in “nom nom nom, this is delicious.”
