Perfectly stored since release. Cork perfect. Upon opening no real signs of aging. On nose beautiful red fruits, tobacco, black fruits, sweet cedar, (basically what one would expect). First taste nothing… soapy aftertaste, thin, watery w soap. 2 hrs later nothing on nose, and thin soapy aftertaste.
Is this bottle flawed? What could the flaw be? There were no detectable signs of TCA!
Appreciate any thoughts as I have never experienced this with a bottle.
Maybe TCA, but honestly sounds like a glass that was not properly rinsed.
Interesting. But there was nothing on the palate. No fruit… nothing. And three different drinkers all experienced the same thing. I dont think it was the stemware.
And, there was no “soapy astringent” smell on the nose.
I agree. Low level TCA. It would strip out everything else but not necessarily present with the tell tale wet cardboard. The soapy notes are a bit odd, but if you say the glasses were clean, absent of anything else, my initial thought was also TCA.
We had a corked bottle of this very same wine last month, and it took a while for the TCA to rear its ugly head.
