Not gonna lie that made me hate her too :joy:

Not sure how this tangent got inserted into this thread, but I agree. Hard to evaluate the commercially-available Georgian wines today because they’ve obviously suffered from decades of under-investment in agriculture and vinification. But it’s an ancient wine culture (home of orange wine) and deserves lots of respect.

You two aren’t worthy, get over it.

I’ve really enjoyed this series. As long as you’re comfortable granting a bit of poetic license to the wine elements, it’s a very entertaining watch.

Has anyone who has watched Drops of God also watched Food Wars!, and if so, how do they compare?

Nice, I read the DoG anime is dropping in April

I read a quick blurb that i thought summarizes season 2 very well.

season 1 was a wine show, with some family drama mixed in.
season 2 is complex family drama show (with issei and camile and also the georgian family).. with some wine mixed in.

season 2 is no longer ‘all about wine’.. i still enjoy it..

Pheasant’s Tears can be a minefield - some wine are beautiful, some natty and dirty. They rarely wow in their youth, but many PT wines have impressed me greatly when they’ve had ~10 years under their belt.

Orgo has been consistently one of the best producers I’ve tasted - although my samples have been limited to a few numbers of tastes. However, they’ve yet to disappoint with their classic range. Do Re Mi is another producer making consistently amazing wines in both the colors (red and amber).

I don’t know much about Winiveria, but I had the 2nd vintage ever of their Saperavi when it was clocking in at 10 years of age. Really a stunner - you wouldn’t confuse it for a classified growth Bdx, but it was a rustic, Georgian equivalent of one.

I just love that there’s a well crafted show out there featuring wine. There’s no denying the series is beautifully shot and well acted. Do they get some things wrong about wine, sure, but net net I’d say it’s a huge win for creating new wine aficionados, and it leans into the romance that captures so many new fans. I really enjoy pouring a glass and watching each new episode with my wife.

It was supposed to.

None of the characters are flawless heros/heroines or purely evil anti-heroes.

I preferred season 2 because it was more about the people and less about blind wine tasting. It was hard to suspend disbelief for some of the blind tasting prowess. Less of that made season 2 more enjoyable for me.

For anyone interested there is a recent Wine for Normal People podcast with the Somm who consults for the show. Not typically a fan of that podcast but this was an interesting one for people who like this series
