Drinking in New Orleans

I had a very pleasant experience at Faubourg Wines, situated in the furthest reaches of the Marigny. Such a contrast to the tired cliches of the French Quarter. Enjoyed Corbieres and South African cabernet by the glass ($8 and $5 respectively for generous pours). Well-chosen cheeses and crackers to accompany. Enjoyable, eclectic selection of small producers at decent prices. Walked it in about 25 minutes from downtown, although some might prefer to Uber as some of the surrounding area is quite dilapidated. Very good back story to the place, building on the owner’s post-Katrina experiences.

We hit the Marigny area now when we want live music. Great vibes in the evening and reminds us what the FQ was like many years ago.
