Went to pick up some wine at a local store (some Huards Cour Cheverny that I looking forward to trying) and asked whether they had access to any Grey Stack Rosemary’s Block Sauvignon Blanc (had my last 2009 bottle this week in Myrtle Beach - yum). “Well no, but…but the Cliff Lede and John Anthony are really good.” Score!
Call a favorite store in Raleigh later and ask about what SB they had that came close to the Grey Stack. “Um, the 2008 Grey Stack we have comes very close.” Their last six bottles of 2008 at $25 per now in my hands. Score again! Life is good.

Sometimes it sucks…can’t find a 2005 Perrot Minot Clos de Beze.
There was a '99 red Burg I had searched for since release, very very low production, could never find it and had assumed I never would (although I got to drink it once). When I was in Paris last year, a board member pm’ed me, mentioning a small shop he liked there a lot, and offhand mentioned that he bought that wine there. I went in and chatted with the proprietor for about 15 minutes. He asks me how I heard about the shop, so I tell him about the boardmember and how happy he was to find that particular bottle. I was then very happily shocked when he told me he thought he had another bottle down in the cellar, which he then sold me…score!
