Donnhoff and Kutch at Thanksgiving

  • 2003 Dönnhoff Norheimer Dellchen Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Nahe (11/26/2009)
My wife’s new favorite wine. Great bottle that exhibited slight petrol nose that I adore in rieslings. It had a petrol mineral nose mixed with pineapples and guyabano(soursop). Good balance of fruit, acidity and hint of sweetness. Can’t wait to taste the 2007s.
  • 2006 Kutch Pinot Noir Russian River Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (11/26/2009)
Out of magnum for Turkey Day dinner. Wonderful evolution. It was much better than a bottle I had early this year. Everyone at dinner kept asking for more. This was so smooth, creamy mouthfeel, balanced, full flavors of cherry, a bit of pomegranate and
exotic and complex nose - red fruits dominate with roses, vanilla, earthy mushrooms. Excellent!

We opened an '06 Kutch RRV as well (out of 750) and your note is spot on.
