Domaine des Lambrays

I have a few from 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010. I’m probably picking between 2012 and 2013. Any thoughts from those who have tried them.

This is one of those relatively unique spots in burgundy where it is such a big plot that they just pick the best barrels from the known best spots, so quality is usually pretty high.

Also, I’d be interested to hear thoughts on Clos des Tart. I own none because it’s so much more expensive.

Thanks in advance.

While looking for yield statistics I ran across a nice Decanter article at Producer profile: Domaine des Lambrays - Decanter with notes on all of the vintages you’ve collected. Record low 15 hl/ha yield in 2012 vs. 26 in 2013. Apparently great concentration in 2012 and hopefully one for the ages but I haven’t tried one yet (2008s were the last I’ve opened as the last sub-$100 vintage). Before the 2012s arrived there was talk about 3-bottle allocations and bundling with '11s but the price increase seems to have taken care of supply and demand. What are the early Burghound and Tanzer notes for '13 if nobody has tasted here?

2012 has a bit of an edge over 2013 here based on my tastings, but it could well be a close thing in twenty years. Neither would be a bad choice.

Clos des Tart is much more overtly oaky and ripe.

Can’t compare with 2013 which I haven’t tasted yet, but the Clos de Lambrays 2012 is one of the best wines I have tasted in that vintage - FWIW.

Let me know if you need some help with one of those champagne.gif

Absolutely Steve! [cheers.gif]

You guys should all campaign to have it demoted back to a 1er Cru.
