Last night was the Domaine Chicago Christmas Party…always a great event and love the Big Star tacos! While I didn’t take detailed notes a few wines stood out for me. Also probably missed as many wines and I got to taste…there was a lot there.
2011 Vatan “Clos la Neore”…wow what a white, so complex and alive. This was a treat to taste and a wine I’ve never heard of but worth trying to track down.
2000 Meo-Camuzet NSG “Les Boudots” (from a leaky bottle)…what an aroma, could have smelled this wine all night. I’m no where near an expert on burgundy but this was one of those wines why I get why people are so crazy about it.
2000 Ridge Montbello…still a baby but has so much good stuff. Cool and elegant, it has a long life ahead of it.
1986 Chapoutier Hermitage “Le Pavillon”. Still loaded with fruit.
1995 Vieux Telgraph (from magnum)…started singing right out of the bottle. Light on its feet and full of the classic garrigue.
1999 Clape Cornas - loved this wine, lots of slate, rocks and minerals. Need explore more of the Clape vintages.
Thanks to all who shared such great wines! Interested in other notes from the evening…
