Domaine Bernard-Bonin, what’s your take?

Had the '19 Meursault VV in December and it was sensational. Then I got an offer for it for $300+ a few days later…Hard to pull the trigger at that number, but I definitely thought about it. I’ve only had a handful of these wines but they really are special.

Thank you both. I do really like Givot.

That wine was insanely good. And it has kind of stuck with me. I too have thought about buying more and I just might.

the funny thing is they used to sell these at whole foods in the chicago area back when nobody cared too much around the 15/16 vintages. there were some premox issues back then too. any update on how these wines are holding up and if there was any change in the wine making?

I’ve never had a bonin cheeseburger before. But it probably gives the meat extra flavor.

Bonin doesn’t have any reds.

I think the point was to indicate Guyon was the “Bonin of reds”.

You obviously have led a very sheltered existence.

How are their 17s? Had the 18s, 19s, and 20s. Never tried the 17s.

17’s are really good but IMO 19 and 20 are a step up, especially for the cru’s. I didn’t open 18’s recently

Similar question as before – has anyone tasted the 22 bottlings? Don’t see very many notes yet.

Assuming your friend had no issue getting rid of them…?

The Bonin 23s just arrived to my neck of the woods and included the Bourgogne, Limozin, Tillets, Genvrieres, Rencontre and Cromin. Wholesale nearly $400 for the non 1ers and $650 for the Genny. Nutty.

WOW! I paid $520 for 22 Genny and under $300 for some of the other non Bourgogne
I asked my source when are the 23’s coming and they haven’t heard from the (absent) rep.

Welcome to the wonderful world of tariffs. Add the automatic annual increases by the Burg producers and you have yourself some crazy increases.

I paid in 2020/2021 $110 for the 1st cru’s and $60-$70 for the village wines.

Yeah. I love these wines but the market pricing has gone loony. I paid about that for my 18s and 19s and then was no longer offered the wines from 2020 on.

Is it just the market price? I thought this is one of the cases where the producer themselves raised the price in the past few years. Not at the price level of Leflaive et al, but they seem priced much higher than Comtes Lafon, for example.

I agree the current pricing makes no sense, whether it is the market price or release price, unless their quality dramatically improved in the past 5-10 years.

I honestly don’t know. It may be that B-B has hiked prices from the cellar door. I just know that I used to get them cheap and now I don’t get them at all. And the retail prices I see are loony.

I don’t know the deal with this producer specifically, but this happens all the time with small production Burg and Champagne that becomes a hot item.
