Swiss wines got real expensive all of a sudden…
Why Adrian ? I’ve been buying a lot in Switzerland.
Swiss just un-pegged their currency from the Euro.
Just saw this.
Well, let’s hope the EU high court doesn’t strike down the ECB QE initiative. Hoping the Euro goes to $0.85 like when we were in Italy back in 2002!
would that not kill off a bunch of US exports??

Don’t be greedy Chae. I’d take parity in a heart beat.
The US doesn’t export that much to Europe as a percentage of the US economy.

Holding near that today. Wow. When we went to Italy just a few months ago, it was at 1.28.
Another drop today. It ended the day at 1.1567.
Bummed about the dollar drop vs. the franc though.

Did I just see ECB 1.1T QE? That’s about what was expected right?

I guess so since the euro didn’t move that much one direction or the other:
for the dummies… is QE suppose to make it stronger against the dollar or weaker?
i.e. if QE goes into place, should i buy some Euro now for my trip?

Mark – Basically the European Central Bank will be printing euros to buy government bonds, which pushes down the value of the euro. But this was widely expected so it had been priced into the euro before the announcement.
Though it’s down to 1.138 now. I bet it gets softer. It’s like a football. ![]()
