Overall I have found that SA winemaking techniques have improved immensely of late, especially the whites. I do not have access to the big blockbuster names up here but my average $20-$30 bottle is always well received.
Color. Some very slight bricking on the rim, medium ruby.
Aromatic nose for sure…earthy, tobacco, red fruits, “plum blackberry” from across the table.
Initial entry thought is quite dry, some earthy tannins, tobacco on the finish. This is a big wine for $25 Cdn, not too herby. Very good finish, big structure, hints of leather. “Juicy berries”, medium acidity, blackcurrant as it airs. A great old-world style here, went well with rib-eye steak and held up well overnight.
