Does anyone know this wine? 2004 Il Colle Brunello di Montalcino

We had a bottle of this on our trip in Tuscany and it was a very nice wine. We bought it in a local wine shop and drank it with a Tuscan meat loaf meal take out from Dario Ceccini’s butcher shop in Panzano, along with sauteed fresh mushrooms. My wife and I both thought the wine was excellent, but we find very few references to it in the US.

The 04 isn’t listed there yet but the community purchase info shows a lot of purchases of the 01 from Costco.

An older estate, not a Johnny come lately in Montalcino. I’ve not had the older wines but have heard that they are pretty middling. I believe a daughter took over the reigns in the late 90’s or 2000 timeframe. I have had the 01 and really liked it, very pretty, fresh and pure. I’ll be on the prowl for the 04 and hoping it is similar to the 01!

Is there an importer?

I looked Jay, no luck.

Il Colle Rosso di Montalcino 2017 : 16,5/20 - 26/7/2022
A very good sangiovese, fruity (ripe cherry), floral, Vermouth, tomato leaf …
Very pleasant, with a good balance and classy tannins.

I want to say I had maybe a 2011 5 or so years ago and enjoyed it. The GM at my wine shop said that sometime around 2011/2012 they changed the winemaking style and it went downhill.
