Lots of contradictory info on the interweb.
They do, but I’ve yet to see them in person
Picture in CT
Hi Chaad, sorry I didn’t get a chance to reply on fb. I am pretty sure they exist and the photo in CT would seem to confirm this.
Why would a picture of a bottle verify a wine? There are pictures of all of the Rudy bottles…but that doesn’t make them real.
I know that an individual in DFW has several 3 liter bottles of SQN. Not sure of Ode To E. Can put out an email.
If anyone wants to sell one, I’m a buyer!
Thanks for all of the feedback. I’m aware of them existing through other people having possessed them or having seen them, but an employee of the winery (who shall remain nameless) told a colleague of mine that they didn’t produce double magnums of Ode to E.
I’m pretty sure they were produced for special events (charity wine auctions), in which case they most likely wouldn’t show up on the normal release notes. That could explain the confusion from the employee at the winery. Possibly. Maybe.
I wrote “would seem to confirm” which is not “verify”. Rudy had a reason to make fake pix of fake bottles. I don’t assume that a priori for a photo on CT.
In any case, Amber at the winery says the spec sheet she has for that wine does not show 3L produced, but the Krankls are not there to check for sure.
The CT picture appears to be a long shot of a 750 bottle inset with a close up photo of a standard bottle. Look closely. It is not a side-by-side shot.
The physical magnums are not usually the same bottle (glass) design as the 750’s BTW. Not sure if that holds for 3L, but it probably makes sense.
Amber has checked with the Krankls and no 3L bottles of Ode to E were produced.
If anyone wants to sell one, I’m a buyer!
Wanna buy mine?
I am quite certain than no 3L sets of Ode To E were produced but then again….I’ve been wrong before.
