Do winemakers enjoy drinking their own wines?

Ed,

you and I do the same… [cheers.gif]

We usually always have a bottle of small batch blanco in the fridge, plus many Gruner’s on the shelf for harvest lunches. And we always drink our neighbors wines when they come over to visit during lunch.

Or with friends in parking lots of hotels with cops nearby

Ditto. Or would that be tritto?

I struggle with this at times, particularly when I am sweating the details with blending. Approach with caution when I’m in the midst of bench trials!

Yes

I also enjoy any wine that fits these complex parameters:
Balanced
Entertaining
Different (see above)
Consistent (plus first two above)
Controversial (plus first three above)

BUT if you really want me to be your slave, the following caveat is imperative:
Free

But seriously, talk about a cellar palate, I had half a dozen go to wines… no prob

(BTW Bob, I just had the 2000 Hamacher last night and will finish up the rest tonight. As you know, I bought from this guy on your recommendation and am very happy with the wines I have. This bottle has years to peak and is still fresh and lovely nine years in. Many thanks.)

Jim,

I first visited Eric Hamacher in 1997 and loved his 1995 and later the 1996 and especially the 1999 Pinots he produced. Along with DDO and St. Innocent; Hamacher is in my top 3 of elite OR PN producers and one of the very few I still buy anymore.

Did Eric ever work at Ponzi or just marry thier daughter?
