DO NOT LIKE PINOT

I am a newbee too this forum, so please bear with me. I am an Avid wine drinker who for the life of me, cannot find a way to like Pinot Noir. I have tried all styles from around the world and cannot bring myself to enjoy them. Am i crazy? If so, that’s OK too! I do prefer Shiraz,Syrah,Cabs,Zins,Malbacs,Merlots and Blends but is there something I am missing about Pinots? Looking For Feedback.

Nope, not missing a thing. You’re good.

I do not think you have a problem. You know what you like. However, do not forget that things change (including your taste buds), so try one from time to time just to see if things have changed.

Curious. is capitalizing the title of the thread necessary? especially as a “newbee too this forum”?

Save your hard earned cash.

Hi Allan. Welcome. I have so much to tell you about photography, Cabernet, marriage, negotiating a new Nissan lease and printing. Pinot, I have no clue! I myself am learning just now so I can’t tell you nothing other than try some from Sonoma Coast. I never thought I would find love there either. But I do. Believe me, I thought I would die with a Cab in one hand a pizza (or cheese) in the other. I might be wrong. Pinot is my new best bud. Did I say WELCOME?

I hear Pinots are best enjoyed with the Pob’audouzega method.

Take the time to read some of the PN tasting notes; you might find one that piques your interest. There are many different styles of pinot but bottom line is, we all have different palates. Welcome to the board, there’s a wealth of information to read and use the search function to hunt for topics you don’t see right in front of you. Cheers!

I have done that too!

ok. Upon further thinking, here is what I recommend you do right now:
Get on the Rivers-Marie list. In the meantime find one at retail. Start with the 2011 RM Silver Eagle.
Once you find you love it you can thank me. If you don’t, you can always share them with friends.

No worries. There’s no obligation!

I don’t like Aussie Shiraz or “petrol laden” reislings.

Different corks for different dorks!

If I knew how, I’d link to a certain Sly and the Family Stone song now.

Welcome! Drink what you want, leave the rest for us!

I can already tell I Like Mike! I was on Rivers Marie list but never pulled the trigger. Will try at retail. Thanks everybody for letting me pop my you know what for my first post. i appreciate all the help and not getting Bullied too much. LOL!

Pinot sucks. Don’t buy it. In fact, it’s poison; stay away!

Allan, one thing I have learned: Anyone tell you something sucks is protecting it all for themselves…
I recently found 2010 Sojourn Pinot for $30. It rocked.

Mike, i gathered there are some wisenheimers on this Board! Will seek out your suggestions. As we speak, my wife and I are enjoyong a Bedrock 2011 Griffin’s Lair Syrah, so you know where my head is at.

You know what you like. That sounds pretty good in my book.

If you currently have any pinot in your cellar that you just can’t drink, feel free to send it to me. I have been on a pinot kick lately(although I am drinking a cab right now). I have some 2010 & 2011 Thomas on the way along with a few bottles Michael at Storyteller recommended. A new obsession?

Especially from Burgundy.
Satan’s pee–don’t even try it.

I hated pinot for the first 10 years of my 20+ year obsession of rotted grape juice. Along the way a few unlikely bottles gathered dust in my bulging cellar. Then out of the blue I tried a pinot somewhere and I actually liked it. Dug around in cellar and found a few aged ones and actually loved them! Been on the hunt ever since.

Don’t stress over it, as others have quipped your tastes will evolve and change. No need to force the issue just enjoy what you enjoy. And remember as you start accumulating 100’s of cases of Aussie shiraz…

(see above)

I’m in the same boat. Pinot doesn’t ring my bell. And I’m good with that. I believe I’m better off financially. And I represent zero competition to most of the fanatical WB’s. But I do like a more refined feminine style of wine, such as PN, just not PN.
