Friends are parking at the Westin near LAX prior to an international flight at midnight on a Friday night. Where is a good place in the vicinity where they can eat and get to the airport by 10 pm. Preferably on the way from San Diego? Decent food but no special requirements.
Not on the way from San Diego, but Gjelina is my favorite restaurant close to the airport. (It’s in Venice).
Otherwise, Inn and Out Burger, just north of LAX on Sepulveda (you can even take one of the parking lot shuttles there).

+1 Gjelina. Innovative and trendy, some good and unusual wines by the glass. Close to LAX for sure.
If they can get up and into Gjelina on time, fine, it’s really good. But not easy on a Friday when Gjelina will be packed. They’d also have to drive the 20 min past the airport in traffic to get to Gjelina.
A bit closer south, easier to park and less crowded would be Waterloo and City. Friday would be a problem in Manhattan Beach as well, but coming from SD one could get there quicker and try for MB Post, Fishing with Dynamite, Strand House. The El Segundo stuff would be most convenient as it is right off 405 and also less than 10 minutes to hotel/LAX. The drawback is that is corporate stuff like Paul Martins, Flemings, or Salt Creek.
