Dinner at The Stonehouse with my sweetheart and 2 stellar wines: 2006 Cristal and 1996 Williams Selyem Precious Mountain Pinot Noir

Several years ago the list had some older Bordeaux and i asked about them. The somm said an older customer had died and they bought his cellar. Several ’61s including Lynch Bages which I had three of the six bottles they had over the course of six months. The last time I was there it seemed like mostly a California list

During these last few decades I referred to, there have been many changeovers with the wine staff, but one thing they had in common was to build up the cellar and most did it with class and the blessings of owner, Ty Warner whose encouragement and money allowed for a world class wine cellar to be established.

I guess we’ll have to make a trip to the Stonehouse soon.

Best of luck with the procedure

I’ve only had the 06 Cristal once but it is a beauty

We ate at the Stonehouse a number of times while planning our wedding at the Ranch 26 years ago. The Stonehouse is beautiful and the food was always quite good. We used to stay at the Ranch (in the same room we stayed for our wedding) for anniversaries and eat at the Stonehouse but sadly the then already pricey room is now several thousand dollars a night so the Ranch is now just a place in our memories. And we did toast with Cristal during the wedding which was the first time I ever had it.

Best of luck with the medical procedure.

Tell me this was timed in conjunction with March Madness, you could watch Kansas’s improbable run to the championship game, where they will inevitably lose to the powerhouse from Durham, NC!

How wonderful. May you re-visit and enjoy a fabulous time.

Actually Andrew, I took the earliest date available to get this over and out of the way. It does conflict with the conference championship games as you know and Kansas will surely be playing early in the Big Xll which could be on Wednesday, the day before the surgery. I’ll record a ton of games and catchup in short time after a 2 day hospital stay. :hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:

Please take good care of yourself, Blake. I appreciate that you keep these moments with your wife, the setting, the people there as part of memory that you keep renewing. I too do this, usually Marche with my wife. Keep in touch, buddy.

Thanks Frank. Our Stonehouse is your Marche which also becomes our Stonehouse when we visit OC. Looking forward to sharing an evening with you and Jill there.

Keep on keeping on, Blake.
