I spent less than 24 hours in Detroit on Saturday, so I wasn’t able to get around much. But Bar Chenin and Ladder 4 were great visits. Grabbed a bottle of Anne et Jean-Francois Ganevat Cremant du Jura Brut at Bar Chenin. It is an intimate bar space, but luckily you can sit in the outdoor space and enjoy the downtown Detroit scenery. I would have stayed and gotten a couple of more bottles, but with limited time, headed over to Ladder 4. The space is unique and the food was delicious. Got a bottle of Wasenhaus Chardonnay 2022 and a Domaine des Tours Blanc. It’s exciting to see wine programs like this outside of cities like New York, SF, Chicago or LA.
Love Ladder4. One of my favorite rieslingstudy events.
The Ladder 4 crew told me how great the Riesling Study was!
Great choices. Ladder 4 is an outstanding restaurant with an exceptional wine list.
Those are my top 2 standing recommendations in the city. Love Ladder 4.
I am going to Detroit in 2 weeks for 30 hrs.
Recommendations on a nice hotel and restaurant? Not thinking of byo so craft cocktail options interesting.
Will be at the symphony Friday night so looking to go somewhere after.
Shinola hotel is supposed to be nice and San Morello in the lobby is very good.
Are you going to see Hilary Hahn? We will be there Friday June 12 and are having dinner at Supino Pizza before the concert.
Yes that’s why I’m going
Thanks for the suggestions.
Evidently Shinola also has Evening Bar which is from Andrew Carmellini.
San Morello is also a Carmellini restaurant. Let me know if you need any other Detroit information. It should be a great concert.
Thanks!
American or Lafayette ?
We had an amazing meal at Mink last month.
