Doyenne and Red Mountain
Any good?
Never had one.
Chris
Had a few older ones. Actually quite nice. Lots of good syrahs in the $30 range these days. I did not jump on this one in particular…
The Syrahs are good.
The Chaleur Blanc at $59 for 3 btls is a BARGAIN!
That wine (in 2006 and 2007) was AWESOME!
Picked up some of the Blanc. Easily the best white wine produced in WA. It’s about $34-$37 here locally so $70 all in for a 3/pack is insane!!
We blew out the 2006 for $19/btl
Customers were very happy.
Agreed, Jared, this stuff is the real deal.
agree with dan, 2006 chaleur blanc was great.
that’s an awful lot of people agreeing with Posner in one day. What is this world coming to?

I guess this used to be the best Washington white…I wonder why they stopped producing it?
2006 Cayuse Viognier Cailloux Vineyard
Review by Jay Miller
There may be two or three producers in Condrieu who can make a Viognier of this quality but only in a great vintage.
I always laugh at that one…
It’s funny that you mention that as I’ve had the 06 Cayuse viognier three times and it has underwhelmed each time (not sure if you know but it pains me to write that considering I am the KoC – King of Cayuse!). We kind of had a mini-showdown with the 06 Cayuse vs. the 07 Chapoutier Invitare and it wasn’t close to the same class. Here are my notes:
2006 Cayuse Viognier Cailloux Vineyard
Disappointed with this bottle. Kind of harsh with a bit of a bitter aftertaste. I really think these need minimum of 5-7 years to balance out. Disjointed with not much fruit but had more acid than the Condrieu, which I liked. 87pts
2007 M. Chapoutier Condrieu Invitare
We put this up against the Cayuse viognier and it beat it like a red-headed stepchild. Cream, bit of custard, glyceral mouthfeel. Notes of lemon, white flowers, and honey. Not quite enough acid for me to be totally blown away. Easily outclassed the Cayuse. 92 pts
I think Christophe quick making it because he was never satisfied with it, even though Dr. Jay seemed to enjoy it ![]()
I am familiar with your Cayuse musings, but anyway you spin it, that TN is funny. Glad to see you are underwhelmed as well. I have never had the Viognier, although I was intrigued for a bit.
