Decanting advice for 2006 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets ?

Tomorrow I will be attending a Raveneau tasting after the tasting there is a BYOB dinner.

I’m planning to bring the 2006 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets. I would be very grateful for advice on decanting time …

Open at arrival 15.00,
Check at 17.00 than decide to decant or not.

I Will bring Labels SQN
And am planning also the same for this.

Decant until 2021

After opening the bottle it was; Burly, with unyielding structure, obvious unripe fruit, bitter, harsh, with drying dusty tannins. After a 6 hours decant; the wine remains intensely tannic, rustic and very tight. Not typical Volnay … needs at least another decade and maybe it comes around !

  • Lewis, despite I have not found any '06 Gout Moisie Terreux!
  • Paul & Scott, we did not finish the bottle and we will try again in 2021.
  • Etienne, the 2007 Sine Qua Non Syrah Labels was impressive !!!
